Therapy
Therapy
Therapy offers a confidential space to pause, reflect, and begin making sense of what feels difficult, stuck, overwhelming, or unresolved.
My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and grounded in the belief that people are not broken — they adapt, survive, protect themselves, and find ways through. Therapy helps us understand those adaptations and create more freedom, flexibility, and connection.

Who Therapy Is For
Therapy is for people who want to understand what has become difficult to live with.
You do not need a diagnosis or a finished explanation before you begin. A repeated pattern, a quiet unhappiness, a grief, a fear, a relationship difficulty or a sense of disconnection can all be enough.
The work begins with what is present, and slowly helps it make more sense.
What Therapy Can Help With
Making space for what has become difficult to carry alone.
Therapy may support people experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, identity questions, burnout, shame, anger, or a sense of feeling disconnected from themselves or others.
How I Work
We work at a pace that respects your nervous system.
I work collaboratively and at a pace that respects your nervous system. We may explore present difficulties, early patterns, emotional responses, protective strategies, relationships, and the parts of you that have had to work hard to survive.
The work is not about forcing change, but about creating enough safety, understanding, and support for change to become possible.
First Session
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a steady conversation. We talk about what has brought you here, what you hope might change, and what would help the work feel safe enough to begin.
You do not need to tell your whole story at once. We pay attention to pace, privacy, suitability and whether the therapeutic relationship feels right.

Questions
Common questions about beginning therapy.
What is trauma therapy?
Trauma therapy is a careful, paced way of understanding how difficult experiences have shaped the nervous system, relationships and everyday life.
Can therapy help anxiety?
Therapy can help anxiety become more understandable by exploring what it is trying to protect and what would help the body feel safer.
Do I need a diagnosis?
No. Many people begin therapy with a feeling, a pattern or a sense that something is stuck rather than a formal diagnosis.
Can I attend online?
Yes. Sessions are available online, as well as in person at the Lisbon clinic where appropriate.
